Smartphone company Spice tried so hard to stand in smartphone market against other smartphones company, for doing so he launched so many budget smartphone but still smartphone users are unable to trust on there smartphones,it will be very difficult for Spice to gain their users trust on there smartphones.
Spice launched a smartphone called Spice Mi-506 stellar mettle icon.It is a dual sim smartphone with dual standby mode, its specifications are nice on paper along with elegant metal build. But its performance is good or not?Let's check it out in our review.
AVALAIBILITY AND PRICE:-
It was launched on March 2014 and comes with 6999INR price tag for 4GB which is very affordable.
SCREEN AND DESIGN:-
Spice Mi-506 stellar mettle icon is a large 5.0 inches TFT capacitive multitouch touchscreen smartphone having 480*854 pixels screen size and 196 ppi pixel density which is quite less than MOTOROLA MOTO E. Its display is glossy and its viewing angles are also bad under sunlight conditions but you can increase the brightness level to read text, but in indoor conditions it is quite fair.It's. touchscreen is quiet responsive and nice.
Its body design is quite similar to HTC ONE but there is no boom sound. Its body is made up of metal that's why it's weighs 177 gms which is heavy in compare to other smartphones, but it is quite slim and having 9.6mm thickness. It's metal build quality is very elegant due to which it gives a premium feel to hand and you can easily hold this because its does not slips out easily.
So overall its body build quality is very elegant and nice.
OS:-
Spice Mi-506 stellar mettle icon works on ANDROID 4.2.2 Jellybean OS which is quite old because now a days budget smartphones like Moto E and United 2 comes with latest 4.4.2 kitkat OS.Its UI is comes with many new features like Google now, auto call recorder, intelligent answer and much more which is quite good.
MEMORY:-
It comes with 4GB of internal storage which is expandable upto 32GB via micro SD,but you will get only 1.48GB user available space for apps and 1GB user available space for storing media files.
RAM AND PROCESSOR:-
Spice Mi-506 stellar mettle icon comes with 1.3 ghz dual core CPU with Mediatek MT6572 chipset and 512 MB ram. There is also a Mali-400 MP GPU for gaming. Its ram is quite less than other budget smartphones like Moto e,Unite 2 and Lava iris x1 because they have 1 gb ram. From its 512 MB ram you will get only 468 MB usable ram.Due to its low ram its hangs and lags sometimes.
Multitasking in this device is also slow along with average gaming performance. Its performance in benchmark test is nice but real life performance is slow and poor.
So overall its performance is bad and below average.
CAMERA:-
It comes with 8MP rear back camera which is capable of record HD 720p videos @ 30fps.There is a LED flashlight for low light conditions and 1.3MP front camera for video calling which is quite better than MOTO E on paper. Its camera performance is poor and not up to mark. The pics clicked by its 8MP camera are not so crisp and also you can notice some noise in the pics. There is some issue in focusing an image because there is no touch to focus option and also details are missing in the pics.
Its camera performance in low light condition is also poor even after starting the LED flashlight.Other camera features are Geo-tagging,panorama,HDR etc.So overall its camera performance is poor and not according to its 8MP camera but still 8MP camera in a budget smartphone is a very big thing for users.
BATTERY AND FEATURES:-
It comes with li-ion 1800 mah battery which gives 7 hrs 30 minutes of talk time that means 1 day battery on normal uses which is good in this budget.Other features are SNS integration, predictive text input, accelerometer sensor etc.
CONCLUSION:-
It is a average budget smartphone having elegant body, nice battery life but it's display and performance is very poor in compare to other budget smartphones like Moto E,Unite 2 and Lava iris X1 and i think you should not go for this and you should look for other options in this budget.
GADnDOWN:-
Down it.
