Android, Inc. was founded at Palo Alto,California in October 2003 by 4 programmers Andy Rubin,Rich Miner,Nick Sears,and Chris White .They make android platform for digital camera they want to make an advanced operating system for digital cameras ,but after sometime they realized that the market for the digital camera's devices was not so big .And then they diverted their efforts and make an smartphone operating system to rival those of Symbian mobile and Windows Mobile

After some time on August 17, 2005 Google acquired Android Inc.And making it a wholly owned subordinate of Google.But the Key employees of Android Inc Rubin, Miner and White, stayed at the company after the after acquiring buy Google. No one know about Android Inc. at this time but everyone assuming that Google was planning to enter the mobile phone market with this move.
And at Google, the team led by one of the founder of Android Rubin developed a mobile device platform which is powered by the Linux kernel . And than Google marketed Android mobile device platform to handset makers and carriers and giving promise of providing a flexible up gradable system.
consideration about Google's intention to enter in the mobile communications market continued till December 2006.
And than Reports from the Print and online media noted that Google wanted its search and applications on
mobile phones and Google was working hard to deliver that.
And at this time some rumors that Google was developing a Google-branded handset. In September 2007, Google had filed several patent applications in the area of mobile telephony.
And On November 5, 2007, the Open Handset Alliance device manufacturers like HTC and Samsung, and chipset makers like Qualcomm and Texas Instruments , unveiled itself, with a goal to develop open standards for mobile devices.
That day, Android was unveiled as its first product, a mobile device platform built on the Linux kernel version 2.6. The first android operating system based commercially available phone was HTC Dream , released on October 22, 2008. Since 2008 each major release of Android version is named in alphabetical order like version 1.5 Cupcake and the nest one is 1.6 Donut . The latest release is 4.2 Jelly Bean .
